The second training ‘Learning & e-Learning: Moodle Platform and How to Develop and Run e-Learning Courses‘ took place at Tangaza University (Nairobi) from May 23 to 28, 2025. This training session is part of work package 4: ‘4.1 Training in e-learning platform and materials’. The main objectives of the workshop were to:

      • Strengthen the pedagogical and technical capacities of lecturers and IT staff in the use of Moodle as a Learning Management System (LMS).

      • Provide practical knowledge for the design, development, and delivery of e-learning courses adapted to different teaching contexts.

      • Introduce modern digital and interactive tools to enhance student engagement and improve online teaching effectiveness.

      • Promote shared methodologies and best practices for the creation and administration of virtual courses across partner universities.

The training was organized and led by the University of Nicosia and delivered in a hybrid format by Kyriakos E. Georgiou, Dr. Efi Nisiforou, Dr. Christos Anagiotos, Dr. Stella Kythreoti-Grimm, and Ms. Neophyta Paphiti. The program was structured into four main modules:

  1. Introduction to e-learning and Moodle fundamentals – providing an overview of online learning principles and the structure of the Moodle platform.

  2. Design and development of e-learning courses – including hands-on workshops on course planning, learning objectives, instructional design, and digital assessment methods.

  3. Use of interactive tools and adult learning strategies – focusing on tools and pedagogical approaches to foster learner participation and motivation.

  4. Administration and management of Moodle platforms – addressing technical configuration, user management, data security, and system maintenance.

The training also included sessions on the Bologna Process and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

The event concluded with a collaborative workshop, during which participants designed the initial structure of an e-learning course applying the concepts and tools learned during the week.
