The third training ‘Digital Readiness Course‘ took place at Tangaza University (Nairobi) from 07/10/2025 to 17/10/2025, 2025, Monday to Friday from 10 am to 1 pm (3 hours a day). This training session was part of work package 4: ‘4.1 Training in e-learning platform and materials’. The objectives of the workshop were:
- Enabled instructors to effectively communicate and teach fully online using appropriate digital tools.
- Equipped learners to utilize digital tools efficiently to maximize their learning.
- Provided a foundation in digital literacy to thrive in the modern world.
The classes took place mainly online and welcomed many members of East African universities. They were organized by Project EAGLE, Tangaza University, and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain. The course was facilitated by Meriem Bachtarzi from UPV.
Detailed content of the course:
Day 1 – Basic use of Word, Google Docs, PowerPoint, and Google Slides. Creating, editing, and formatting documents with image, table, and header insertion.
- Day 2 – Learning management: online spaces where teachers and students can share lessons, assignments, and feedback & Learning platforms for ready-made courses and self-studying.
- Day 3 – Basic functions and charts. Introduction to spreadsheets, use of formulas and functions.
- Day 4 – Web development: Structuring and Webpages with HTML
- Day 5 – Web development: Styling Webpages with CSS
- Day 6 – Continued work with HTML and CSS for building a web page
- Day 7 – Creating a web page with the website builder WordPress I
- Day 8 – Creating a web page with the website builder WordPress II
- Day 9 – Wi-Fi optimization, adjusting parameters such as Wi-Fi channel and frequency, maximizing coverage, and configuring protection/security settings.
The content was beginner-friendly and started with the basics, gradually progressing to more advanced topics. Learners in this course could choose to skip the basic topics covered during the first few days, and join later in the second week. All classes were taught through the video conferencing platform Zoom.
The sessions were recorded so that they can be replayed by those who were unable to attend.
