The fifth face-to-face Technical Training of the EAGLE project, entitled “Course design and e-learning methodologies”, was successfully held at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, from 19 to 23 January 2026.
This training activity was designed to strengthen partners’ capacities in course design, inclusive teaching practices and e-learning methodologies, with a particular focus on supporting higher education institutions operating in conflict-affected contexts.
Throughout the week, participants worked on key aspects of academic course development, including the formulation of course outlines and learning objectives, alignment with the Bologna Process and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), and the creation of effective learning environments for online and blended education. Special emphasis was placed on inclusive teaching approaches, addressing how universities can respond to the needs of diverse student populations.
The technical programme combined theoretical lectures with practical, hands-on workshops, delivered by academic staff from the University of Nicosia’s School of Education and the ePSU.

On Monday 19 January, the training opened with sessions on the Bologna Process, ECTS, and course structuring, followed by a practical guide on how to structure an academic course.
On Tuesday 20 January, participants explored critical and creative approaches to course design, learning principles in online education, and best practices for using video in online courses.
On Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 January, the programme focused on the hands-on development of e-learning courses, allowing participants to work directly on designing online learning materials and environments. These sessions were complemented by discussions on inclusive teaching in university classrooms and collaborative practices in digital learning platforms.
The training concluded on Friday 23 January with sessions on assessment strategies, including the development and use of rubrics in higher education, as well as enhancing collaboration within Moodle.
This technical training represented an important milestone for the EAGLE project, reinforcing partners’ capacities in high-quality, inclusive and digitally supported higher education, and contributing to the long-term sustainability and impact of the project’s capacity-building activities.
